New chapter for Downham Market mobility shop

A mobility business is expanding into Downham Market by taking over a long-established shop in the town.

Family-run Platinum Mobility is taking over Mobility Plus in Bridge Street following the previous owner’s retirement. The new business is due to open next week.

A spokesperson for Platinum Mobility said: “We’re so excited to become part of the Downham Market community and can’t wait to welcome existing customers, meet lots of new faces and bring a little bit of Platinum to the town.”

The former owner will continue to work at the shop for a few days each week alongside the Platinum Mobility team, offering customers the benefit of his knowledge and experience.

Platinum Mobility already has a shop in Ely and describes itself as the UK’s largest supplier of refurbished electric wheelchairs and scooters.

The company specialises in refurbished power wheelchairs, with more than 300 in stock, as well as wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Its refurbished wheelchairs are cleaned, serviced and safety-checked by its own engineers.

The company said customers in Downham Market can expect mobility products, advice and customer service, and it has pledged that it “won’t be beaten on price locally”.

An official opening date is expected to be announced shortly.
