King’s Lynn Town fell to a 2-1 defeat at Bedford Town in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Despite taking an early lead, the hosts hit back with two goals before half-time and held on to see off a Lynn team, who were reduced to 10 men in the closing stages
The Linnets took a 16th-minute lead when Jesse Nwabueze picked himself up after a foul to fire in from the penalty spot.
Louie Kudiabor levelled five minutes later when he capitalised on a defender’s slip and, despite Lynn pushing hard, it was the hosts who earned the half-time advantage when George Moncur struck in the last minute.
Appeals for a penalty when Reece Hall-Johnson went down were dismissed and as the game entered the last quarter, manager Paul Caddis rolled his dice with a triple substitution.
Nwabueze’s hopes of another stunning free-kick goal were denied by the home goalkeeper and Lynn’s task was made even more difficult when Aaron Jones was sent off for a high foot with three minutes to go.
Despite five minutes of stoppage time, Lynn were unable to find an equaliser and slipped out of the competition at the hands of their fellow National League North side.
