A key building in King’s Lynn will be illuminated in purple this weekend to mark the anniversary of a domestic abuse charity.
King’s Lynn Corn Exchange will be flooded with purple light on Saturday, September 19 to celebrate the work of the Pandora Project.
The charity, which uses a signature purple colour, provides specialist help to women and children affected by domestic abuse across West and North Norfolk.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “On average, one woman is killed by an abusive partner or ex every five days in England and Wales.
“Domestic abuse also has profound impacts on mental health, with some victim-survivors reaching crisis point and feeling they have no safe way forward. Greater awareness, prevention and access to specialist support are essential to reducing these harms.”
Pandora was set up in 2013 and offers free and confidential support to women who are still living with domestic abuse – and those who have left abusers and need support to recover.
