Plans have been revealed to turn part of a restaurant and takeaway in King’s Lynn into a taxi office.
Tanya Mewes, from Trusted Travel Norfolk, has applied to King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council to change the ground floor of The Kebab Master into a taxi office and hot food takeaway.
The plan is to keep the Norfolk Street restaurant open and serve food but turn part of the ground floor into a private hire taxi office. The Kebab Master is next door to the Eagle and serves kebabs, hot dogs, burgers, pizzas and crepes.
A planning portal has attracted 47 comments both supporting and opposing the proposal.
One resident was worried about traffic. They said: “I do feel more needs to be implemented to create a safer environment on the streets for people and road users – with another taxi office opening this would do quite the opposite.”
Another supported the application. “I believe this could only be a good thing. The pub next door (The Eagle) has a lot of customers that are always looking for taxis, along with the rest of the nighttime venues in King’s Lynn.”
