Skating on indoor wheels on a wet track proved no problem for Danni Stafford Allen at the British National Road Championships in Colchester.
The Terrington St Clement-based member of Walpole Highway’s Wisbech Inline Speed Skating Club broke the British 8K Pupil Girls 10-12 record by 10 seconds on her way to claiming the national marathon crown.
The 12-year-old St Clement’s High pupil smashed the three-year-old record of 18mins 27.855secs, which was also set in Colchester by Aurora Griffiths.
It has been an incredible year for Stafford Allen, who was crowned overall indoor champion in March.
She also holds the British records for her age group in the 2,000m and 3,000m, both set in Germany last year, plus the indoor 1500m record, set at Tatem Park, London, last May.
They are the latest in a long list of honours for Stafford Allen, who remains Mini Girls 6-9 British 100m road record holder, which was set in Belgium in 2023, as well as the 3,000m record, set at Colchester the same year.
