Only pride is at stake as King’s Lynn complete their Rowe Motor Oil Premiership season at Northampton this evening, 7.30pm.
Until Monday it looked like this would be a critical match for the PSH Environmental Stars. Had Ipswich lost at Leicester, it would have meant an away win at the Shaleway would have taken Lynn into the play-offs.
However, with the Witches winning at the Hydroscand Arena it effectively ruled the Stars out of contention, and Sheffield then completed the formality of securing their own play-off place when they beat Northampton at Owlerton on Wednesday.
The Stars’ campaign finishes at a venue where they won earlier in the season in the Knockout Cup, before going down 48-42 in their first league visit, taking the aggregate point in a Super Heat.
Both teams are at full strength and there are three league points available as the reverse fixture at the Adrian Flux Arena was drawn 45-45.
