Three West Norfolk cricket ‘heroes’ have been honoured.
The Norfolk Cricket Foundation’s 2026 Cricket Collective Grassroots Heroes awards were held at Wensum Valley Golf Club and saw honours go to representatives of North Runcton CC, Snettisham CC and Hockwold CC.
Winner of the Newcomer of the Year award was Runcton’s Will Hancock, whose first season as head of youth cricket made a significant impact on the club’s young players and wider administration.
Snettisham’s Julie Fielder was named Coach of the Year, in recognition of how she combined playing experience with knowledge, humour and encouragement to develop players and team spirit.
One of three Lifetime Achiever awards went to Hockwold’s John Ruddick, who was recognised for his long-term commitment to his club and to Norfolk recreational cricket.
