New Lidl supermarket and 66-bed care home planned for King’s Lynn

Plans have been unveiled for a new Lidl store and a 66-bed care home in King’s Lynn.

LNT Care Developments has applied to West Norfolk Council to build the store and care home on land off Edward Benefer Way.

A planning statement said: “The proposals seek to deliver a new Lidl foodstore extending to approximately 2,185m², a purpose-built 66-bedroom residential care home, electric vehicle charging facilities, associated parking, access, landscaping and infrastructure works.”

It added that the proposal: “Present a significant opportunity to secure substantial private-sector investment in King’s Lynn and South Wootton.

“They deliver important economic and social benefit whilst responding to both the retail and care needs of an established and expanding residential community.

“Both Lidl and LNT Care Developments are contractually committed to the scheme, providing confidence that the development is commercially deliverable and capable of making a meaningful contribution to the local economy.”

The developer said the new Lidl foodstore would help improve shopper choice and reduce how far people have to travel to access a discount store.

The new supermarket and care home would be built next to Wootton Grange – a part-built development of 450 homes.
