Concerned villagers packed a meeting held to discuss plans for a huge solar farm and data centre development in West Norfolk.
The public meeting was held in Tilney St Lawrence yesterday evening (November 2) to discuss the proposed Longmarsh Green Energy scheme.
The scheme would see solar farms built across land around Tilney St Lawrence, Barton Bendish and Fincham, along with a major data centre.
Councillor Sandra Squire attended the meeting and said afterwards on social media that the general feeling among those present was concern about the plans, and that her job was to support residents.
She said: “Packed turnout at the public meeting in Tilney St Lawrence about the Longmarsh proposal.
“Thank you to all of the organisers and everyone that attended. It is humbling to see affected communities supporting each other. Together we stand.”
A spokesperson for Longmarsh Green Energy consultation team said: “Our website includes a page https://longmarshgreenenergy.co.uk/design setting out all of our design commitments.
“Our community consultation is open until 26 November. Following the consultation, all feedback will be carefully considered alongside the outputs from the environmental assessments and feedback from technical specialists.
“These include statutory authorities, Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council and Norfolk County Council to help refine our proposals as we prepare to submit a DCO application.
“We will also continue to engage with neighbouring residents on our mitigation proposals and work with stakeholders on technical issues.
