Students explore career opportunities at inspiring event

Students at the College of West Anglia in King’s Lynn have been finding out about future career opportunities at a special event.

The college welcomed employers, universities, public services and training providers to its annual Operation Inspire event, held at its Sports Campus.

Now in its sixth year, the event gave students the chance to speak directly to employers and find out about careers, further education and work experience.

Organisations taking part included Norfolk Police, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, RAF Marham, the Army, universities, healthcare providers and local sport and fitness businesses.

The event was opened by West Norfolk Mayor Cllr Steven Bearshaw.

Cllr Bearshaw said, “I am always encouraged to see organisations working together to invest in the future of our community.

“Today’s event demonstrates exactly that and provides a fantastic opportunity to bring students, educators, employers, and training providers together, all with a shared purpose: helping young people explore the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”

Lucas Cooper, the college’s head of admissions, careers and businesses, said: “It was great to see so many employers, charities, public sector services such as the prison service, fire service and the police and education providers in one place for our students.

“Our students took a huge amount from the morning, and it was fantastic to see how engaged they were.”

Operation Inspire was launched following the Covid pandemic to help students connect with employers and explore their career options.
