A King’s Lynn charity is appealing for volunteers to help collect food and gifts for people who might otherwise go without this Christmas.
The Purfleet Trust is holding a Christmas collection at Sainsbury’s in Hardwick, King’s Lynn, on Thursday, December 10, and is asking people to spare an hour or two to help.
Volunteers will hand out Christmas donation shopping lists to customers as they enter the store, collect donated food and gifts and thank shoppers for their generosity.
The collection will run from 9am to 4pm and no previous experience is needed.
The donations will help the charity provide Christmas meals and presents for the people it supports.
Joy Wylie, fundraising and communications manager at The Purfleet Trust, said: “For many of our clients, the Christmas meal and gift they receive from us may be the only Christmas meal and present they have this year.
“We want to make sure everyone has something special to look forward to and we’d love your help to make that happen.”
Volunteers can offer as little as an hour or stay for longer.
Anyone who can help is asked to email Joy at [email protected], stating what time they are available.
The Purfleet Trust is a West Norfolk charity supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship. The charity says it supports more than 1,000 people each year through its services in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, including housing support, health and wellbeing support, training houses and the Purfleet Pantry.
